I would start with a good roof tarp to prevent more water coming in. Then see if you can do mold remediation in the basement/crawl space. If you can get the beams and subfloor in decent condition, proceed. If not, you are just wasting your time and money with anything built on top of that. Then you should tear it down to the studs inside and kill the mold. Replace any rotted studs and floors. Paint everything with mold-resistant paint. Then reroof. That probably entails tearing down to the rafters, replacing plywood, and putting a new membrane on with some kind of roof surface. Metal seems to go pretty fast, but shingles look better. Don't last as long as metal though. Rewire, replumb, and insulate. Then work on the interior.

I would make the second level a whole bedroom with a bathroom.

Do you have to consider absestos in Canada? It's a massive concern in Australia.

Have you girls gotten the cabin asbestos tested? If not I would highly recommend you to do so as exposure to asbestos would cause permanent and long term health implications and it could also cause contamination to your land if not disposed of correctly.

Mold offers the eyes and mind let's say comfort. How ? The presentation is lead ! Not let's U.S. Army fear go to mosquito 🦟 larve ! In the absence of lead . Believe it or not I still think your both cute but have boyfriend's . That's O.K. in the presentation not that mold would make them sick and save you from viruses. But in the presentation of ibuprofen and paint it certainly would make you sick saving your entire community and allowing black mold to remove plastic from fruit and vegetables that you can harvest from your garden ❤

I don’t think your windows are the water problem. The water off t your roof is probably leaking into the walls. Roof and gutters are so important

Jasmine I understand the claustrophobic feeling of wearing a respirator but you have a substantial amount of mold in the cabin, not working directly with those areas doesn’t prevent exposure. Mold releases airborne particles which can be dispersed with movement through the area and as Crystal removes those materials, particles are dispersed throughout the air that you subsequently breathe even standing away from the surfaces. Please at a minimum wear an N95 quality mask when in the cabin until you’ve treated the mold areas.

You two are amazing. I thought for sure the cabin was not worth saving but, ow I’m not sure. If anyone can do it, you can. I thought Crystal was about to cry at the end.

It was more than wicked, it was gross, even grody to the max. Please be extra careful with the old fiberglass insulation. Take care of yourselves.

(I especially love that I get to simply watch and not participate!) 😉 And since you asked, I think you should move the stairs to that back corner; it's weird having it right next to the door and ending a step from the front wall. I'd keep the bedroom and bathroom where they are, but perhaps extend the bath if there is room to work around the stairs in that location. Whatever you decide, I'll looking forward to watching that, as well. 🙃😊

Looks prime for an open loft space. Second floor deck over porch roof would be cool too with a catwalk from the loft to get to it. First floor porch screened in second floor deck open to the sky. Bigger windows. Woodstove/cookstove combo. Have fun!!

I don't know what's needed to lift the whole cabin, but if you can raise it up and make the crawlspace um, water tolerant, and just use it for storing things like lake toys, it will improve the view and protect the cabin from floods you can't control. And it would make some really cool video to share with us!

Absolutely love that you’re willing to take on the renovation of this lakeside cabin. After what you accomplished with the first cabin I’m excited to see what you come up with.

Don’t know Canada Rules, but I would save it as here in the US, old buildings kinda get Godfathered in after a while. Moving them needs planning approval, which is a bunch of people trained to say no. If your Sil plates are in good shape, everything else if a repair job without total demo.

Build a brand new cabin, u girls have the know how.

I would cover the windows and the roof with some type of waterproof material. You definitely have a lot of work ahead of you.

I would suggest that you invest in a planer feeder and a good one for all that wood your removing from the wall repurpose as much as you can

Not sure what to say about that place. if it was mine and I had lots of money, I would knock it down and start from scratch,, down the road certain people will pay big bucks for that property
